While I liked Personal Finance for Dummies, a book also by this author, (although also incomplete) this”book” leaves a lot be desired and appears aas though the author did very little research. Do yourself a favor, SKIP THIS BOOK!

This book is especially good for the person who wants a broad overview of investing. It will give you a solid foundation to begin growing your money from. After reading, I opened a Scottrade account because they had the lowest rates ($7), and no inactivity fee. [...] to get a referral for 3 free trades.

The book make s number of standard, okay suggestions, but falls short on how to actually keep up with allocations and balancing. The reader will need a computer program like Investors FastTrack to follow the advice.

The 2 or 3 chapters in “Investing for Dummies” was sufficient coverage of mutual funds for the average person. I highly recommend ” Investing for Dummies”.
